Using Communication Platform

This article briefly describes the communication platform that has been developed by District IT. This tool allows authorized employee to send messages via Email, SMS and OR InSite notification to students who meet a predefined condition.

Permissions can be given by audience and then also whether the employee is allowed to send messages via SMS/text

Instructions

  1. Login to InSite and click on the Resources tile

  2. If you have been granted permission you will see “Communication Platform” (if you do not see please contact your manager)

  3. First step is to choose the “students” you want to communicate with (list of audiences)

  4. You will then have to choose a Delivery mode listed below

    1. SMS/Text - this will send students a Text message to the cell phone numbers they provided for Text messaging. If student has chosen to opt-out of they will not receive this text message.

  5. Once you select Deliver mode you can compose the message (remember if you chose TEXT please keep message short)

  6. Now choose one of the Delivery Timing listed below:

    1. Immediately - Delivers the message within the next 10 minutes

    2. Specific Date - You select a specific date in the future

    3. Specific week based on term - allow you to pick

      1. Before start of term (up to 3 weeks before)

      2. During the term (pick any week between 1 and 16)

      3. After end of term (pick up to 3 weeks after the term)

All message that are scheduled for future date is always sent at 9am on the date its scheduled.
